  • All Purpose Flour
  • Mozzarella cheese

  • Olives
  • Marinara Sauce
  • Pepperoni

See recipe card for quantities.

How to Make Puff Pastry Pizza

Defrost Puff Pastry fully. Preheat oven to 425℉.

puff pastry sheet on parchment paper

Unroll puff pastry if it's rolled and place a little bit of flour on it making sure that the pastry is not sticky. Carefully flip it over and place it on a sheet of parchment paper. Lightly cover the puff pastry with flour on the second side.

puff pastry sheet scored on left and right side

Using a rolling pin, roll out puff pastry to 14" x 10". Section the puff pastry in to 3 sections with the section in the middle being slightly wider than the sides. Cut slits on the sides about ¾" apart right to the edge and all the way through to the bottom.

pizza ingredients in the middle of puff pastry sheet

Mix sauce and olive oil and layer it in the centre of the puff pastry along with mozzarella, pepperoni, olives and parmesan cheese in the centre of pastry and any other filling you prefer.

puff pastry folded over pizza ingredients

Fold slits on the sides over to enclose sauce mozzarella layer making a crisscross design.

Place in 425 degree pre-heated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Storage: Store leftover pizza in the refrigerator in an air tight container or wrapped in foil.

You can also freeze pizza slices in the freezer wrapped in foil or stored in an air tight container. You can take them from freezer to toaster oven and warm for 10 minutes at 350F.

Top Tip

When you are working with puff pastry, you need to work quickly. The longer the dough stays at room temperature the less it will rise when cooked.

Ensure that your oven is pre-heated before you place your puff pastry in the oven because puff pastry needs a high oven temperature in order to bake and "puff".

Variations and Substitutions

Some of the Pizza's you can make include the following:

  • Pesto
basil, pine nuts, parmesan cheese, olive oil
  • Hawaiian
black forest ham, pineapple, black olives, onions, pizza sauce, mozzarella
  • Mediterranean
calamata olives, feta cheese, red peppers, red onions, oregano
  • Potato and Pancetta
thin potato slices, thinly slice pancetta or bacon, mozzarella, oregano
  • Sausage and Rapini
thinly slice pork sausage, rapini, mozzarella, fennel seed, oregano, mozzarella

Use your imagination to come up with unique pizza flavor combinations or your favorite toppings.  The great part of using puff pastry is that you don't have to wait for it to rise. You can thaw it out and use it right away.

Answers to Commonly Asked Questions

Why is my puff pastry soggy?

Puff pastry needs to be baked at a very high temperature. Try baking it at 425℉ for best results.

Do you bake puff pastry before filling?

You can do both. If your filling is already cooked, then you can use a pastry bag and tip to fill already baked puff pastry. You can also place filling on puff pastry then fold the pastry over it, seal it and then bake in the oven at 425℉.
