How to Make Homemade Nutella Ice Cream
Put the hazelnut wafers in a ziploc bag and smash them using a plate or glass.
Mix the Nutella and the condensed milk with ½ cup of heavy cream until combined. Place the 2 cups of heavy cream in a bowl and whip until stiff peaks form.

Add the condensed milk and Nutella mixture into the bowl with the whipped cream. Let the condensed milk run down the edges and mix on low until you have poured all the condensed milk in and it is mixed in with the whipped cream.

Pour half of the mixture into a loaf pan and top with the crushed wafers. Pour remaining chocolate mixture on top and layer more crushed wafers on top. Place in freezer to chill for 10 hours.
Top tip
I've tested making no churn ice cream with bowls and whisks that were freezer cold versus using them as they are in the kitchen.
Based on the results of making no churn ice cream, it doesn't make a difference. So, don't waste your time if you are not using an ice cream maker. Just ensure that you place your finished ice cream in the freezer right away and let it chill.
For a dense ice cream, let it freeze for 24 hours.
For soft serve, let it freeze for up to 6 hours.
Make sure that you are choosing a container that is large enough to hold your homemade ice cream securely and that the container is freezer safe.
Substitutions and Variations
Here are a few ideas on variations and substitutions for this ice cream recipe:
- Peanut Butter - substitute hazelnut spread with peanut butter
 - Hazelnut Spread - use your favorite hazelnut spread, it doesn't need to be Nutella.
 - Brownies - Nutella and ice cream go together, but adding brownie and Nutella in ice cream is magical
 - Nutella Sundae - the next best thing after Nutella Ice cream with a Nutella Sundae so why not make a Nutella sundae with the ice cream.

You can make this Nutella ice cream with a machine although it simply is not necessary. We can all agree that this homemade Nutella ice cream recipe will make you feel like a kid again.
Equipment
You've made your ice cream, it's now time to pour it into a non stick loaf pan or a glass loaf pan and store it in the freezer.
You can also store it using recycled ice cream containers if you have them leftover from store bought ice cream or buy your own air tight containers.
Storage
Store this ice cream immediately in the freezer and let cool for at least 10 hours. Return unused portions of the ice cream to the freezer in an airtight container. Store in the freezer for not longer than 3 weeks. After all, you won't like ice cream that has freezer burn, right?
