What is Burrata?
Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese made from cow's milk (traditionally buffalo milk).
It has an outer shell that is smooth and made of mozzarella and the interior is filled with a stracciatella and cream giving it a soft, creamy texture that flow out when cut.
Burrata has a delicate, milky, and butter flavor, mild tasting but rich. It is typically served fresh paired with tomatoes, salads, crusty breads or drizzled with olive oil and a sprinkle of salt.
Recommendations from Mamma and Me

Top Tips
Olive Oil - remember to add more olive oil before serving.
Serving - serve warm and break open the cheese with a sharp knife letting it ooze out of it's shell in front of your family or guests.
Bread - serve with a French Stick or a Baguette that's been lightly toasted and sliced.
Variations
Here are a few variations to consider:
- Bocconcini - instead of using burrata, you could also use bocconcini and tomato salad
- Olives - add kalamata olives or black sundried olives for a salty bite
- Chili Flakes - add chili flakes for a little bit of heat
- Balsamic Glaze - add a drizzle of balsamic glaze for some more sweetness.
- Stracciatella - if you don't have burrata you could substitute it with stracciatella.
