What to Serve with a Strawberry Vodka Cocktail

A strawberry vodka cocktail is the perfect drink to serve at a barbecue or outdoor gathering.

Serve this tropical strawberry drink with appetizers like beef short ribs or these little ricotta and spinach stuffed phyllo bites, dry rub wings, or crispy fried calamari.

And for dessert, a simple Coffee Cake or these Individual Desserts Cups will be the piece de resistance!

Ingredients

This cocktail for spiked strawberry lemonade is easy to make and uses the following ingredients: lemons, water, sugar, frozen strawberries, fresh strawberries and vodka.

Sugar while this isn't the main ingredient, sugar was used to sweeten the drink to preference and can be eliminated.

Frozen strawberries work best for this cocktail because they are much sweeter than fresh strawberries and are easier to process.

Fresh strawberries make a great garnish and added touch of fruit to nibble on.

Vodka or gin are perfect an alcohol because they pair well with the strawberry and lemonade flavor, plus they are clear and won't distort the color of the cocktail.

See recipe card for full ingredient list and quantities.

Add to decanter with lemon juice. Add vodka

Place sugar in a plate, dip your finger in water and wet the rim of your glasses. You can also dip the rim of the glass in water and then dip it in the sugar to coat the rim of the glass.

Wash strawberries and cut them in half. Score in the middle and place on the rim of the glass for decoration.

Chill for 2 to 3 hours. Pour mixture into glass and serve

Top tip

If you want to use ice, do not place it in the decanter with the strawberry lemonade mixture because it will dilute the mixture.

Instead add ice the individual glasses and pour cocktail over the ice. Serve immediately.

Substitutions and Variations

Here are a few variations for you to consider:

  • Rum - substitute rum for the vodka or your favorite alcohol, even champagne or sparkling wine
  • Fruit - use a different type of berry, like blueberry, cherries or raspberries
  • Coconut cream - add coconut cream to make a tropical version of this favorite
  • Freeze - freeze it and make it a slushy!
  • Mocktail - eliminate the alcohol and make it a virgin strawberry lemonade.

Got other ideas? Go ahead and make this one your own. Leave a comment and let me know what you did different. I'd love to hear from you.

Equipment

This recipe for strawberry lemonade with vodka uses minimal equipment. You should have a juicer and a decanter to store your mixture.

Not to worry if you don't own a juicer, just squeeze the lemon with your hand making sure you catch the seeds and discard the lemon seeds. A mini strainer might come in handy too to strain your strawberries.

Storage

This mixture stores well in the fridge for 2 days, provided that you did not add ice to the decanter.

These ingredients don't stand up well to freezing, therefore this isn't recommended.
